The perks of not being attached to any educational tech programs either as a trainer or ambassador is that I get to say whatever I want. So liberating, so here it is..
4 things I would love see some changes on TikTok:
1. Video copyright and ownership. Tik Tok has a big problem with originality of videos and everybody can just post whatever they want even recycled videos from someone's account. Creative content creators struggle to retain their ownership of the videos they made. TikTok need to protect their users' copyright otherwise TikTok will remain a video platform for recycled videos and short version of copyrighted materials from movies and youtube.
2. The sound of downloaded TikTok videos lags about 0.3-0.5 seconds. Most of the time the lip sync or dance moves lag which is not a smooth experience. Compared to Reels, Reels do better in this department.
3. No links for playlist. If TikTok wants to expand their market for education, they need to do this ASAP. As you can see, most parents are still not convinced their children should be allowed to use TikTok. Unless they really aim TikTok to just be for entertainment.
4. TikTok missed a lot in their content review. There are still lewd jokes, inappropriate content and abusive language in the Fyp. They need to handle this really soon.
* Incentives and prizes are good for teachers but what we want to see is more control of content for younger generation and students of course. All we care is we provide safe learning environment for them.
